Rhonda Taylor is the founder and manager of Joyful Hearth. She is happily married to her husband, friend, and biggest supporter and has three wonderfully talented adult children. In addition to Joyful Hearth, she captions for the deaf and hard of hearing and is currently serving on a Working Group of a local non-profit affordable housing initiative in Howell, Michigan.
To give some background, Rhonda Taylor received her associate's degree in Applied Business majoring in court reporting and worked in the legal field for the first 15 years of her career. Wanting to be more of service to people, she began using her skills to provide captioning for the deaf and hard of hearing. This extensive experience has broadened her desire to serve and advocate for ALL individuals seeking the same opportunities as everyone else.
Nearly 20 years later, when Rhonda's adult daughter was facing difficulty finding a clean, safe, and affordable home to rent where she worked in Indiana, she quickly delved into learning more about real estate to see how she could help. She was able to purchase a home and renovate it for her daughter to rent. This was the catalyst that spurred Rhonda to immerse herself in getting as much education and training as she could in all things real estate.
Unfortunately, with the high market prices and costs of renovating, the numbers just weren't working to actually provide attainable rent and housing options. In the course of her education and training, she was reminded about the part manufactured housing plays in creating affordable housing. In fact, this was the avenue that Rhonda herself took as a mother of three children going through a divorce. She then researched and learned what she needed to do in order to be able to provide manufactured housing and became licensed to do so.
Rhonda has a great deal of empathy and sympathy for those facing obstacles and challenges with regard to home ownership. Based on her past experiences and difficult life events, she personally feels drawn to help people attain housing that is affordable and eventually home ownership. Our team is looking forward to working with individuals, organizations, and communities in meeting affordable housing needs.
Finding a unique name that conveys special meaning was quite the challenge. In praying about it, the phrase joyful heart came to mind, both in receiving and giving.
Prov. 17:22, A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones, rang true and became the foundation of the name. Lack of affordable housing can certainly crush one's spirit, but a safe home (often symbolized by a hearth) can bring joy.
The symbol in between Joyful and Hearth is actually the Celtic symbol for New Beginnings bringing in the Irish heritage as well as hope.
A special thank you to Rhonda's youngest son who created the logo and her oldest son who helped with editing. Another shoutout is due to Rhonda's dear friend who played an integral part in the website design.
